Thank you for taking an interest in these loops. My hope is that this collection can be a sonic aid for you and your activities––something to be with other than yourself.

This is a collection of songs that have always been a sound intent on becoming: bistable, consistent, intricate. Like the spinning dancer illusion, there is a sustained pirouette of sound. I considered this illusion while piecing this collection together, recognizing both the cyclical nature of each, turning touchless, and the inscrutable starting positions, with the ability to change direction during observation.
Overlapping like a murmuration, but repeating without aberration. Not antagonistic like Satie’s Vexations, not disintegrated like Lucier’s I am sitting in a room. Just tender, temporal reiterations from me to you.

These songs are one-take loops, recorded non-linearly on the bass, sometimes featuring a Volca Beats synth. Notes that appear in a sequence were played out of order, woven together through the repetition of the loop pedal. All of the notes were specially handpicked, considered, plucked when ripe.

I recorded these loops in 2017/18 on a BOSS-RC30 loop pedal, and edited and designed this collection during March of 2021. It took a pandemic for me to have the time, means and emotional girth to execute this project. I got lost in these loops, for hours, when I was building them, and I hope you can get lost in them too.
